Linden Update | October 30, 2024

Time to Rest

The vines are quickly shedding their leaves. The first frost will come soon and take any leaves that remain. Then their big sleep begins. It is best to not disturb them until after winter solstice.

The wines are settling and harmonizing. They have entered their awkward phase. Kind of like teenagers.

Best not to judge them nor make decisions right now.

The winegrowers are cleaning and putting away specialized tools and equipment that won't be touched again until next August. Now begins our down time.

Thanksgiving Wines

Food is always on our minds when crafting Linden wines. Wine is best enjoyed at the table, and we would like to be part of your Thanksgiving. The flavor diversity of America's classic Thanksgiving dinner demands some creativity with the wines. This festive selection starts the pairing with appetizers, addresses turkey's white meat/dark meat dilemma, and even takes on wine-challenging cranberry sauce.

  • 2018 Petit Manseng is a great greeter wine as it is light and refreshing. With a bracing acidity and a faint touch of sweetness, it pairs with just about any appetizer imaginable.

  • The richness of 2019 Village Chardonnay complements white meat and mashed potatoes (especially if prepared with copious amounts of cream and butter).

  • 2020 Claret is supple enough to take a dedicated red wine drinker from appetizers through the main course. It has just enough red fruit and herbal notes to tackle cranberry sauce and stuffing.

  • The 2019 Petit Verdot is ripe and dense. It should be reserved for those who opt for dark meat and rich gravy.

December Special Tastings

Since it is our down time in production, we have some special tastings to share at the end of the year. After the first two weekends in December, we will be closed until the new year.

Abridged Library Tastings

Fridays only - December 6 & 13. $25 per person.

Time and only time gives complexity and harmony to wine that is impossible to hasten. Linden wines benefit from age. This is true for both whites and reds. Over the past ten years we have been holding back vintages with intention. On special occasions we share them. Fridays in December are going to be that special occasion. We'll informally open older vintages to taste and enjoy by the wood stove.

Tank Tasting of 2023 Vintage

Saturdays and Sundays - December 7 & 8 and 14 & 15. $100 per person.

The 2023 vintage has now been blended. The wines are harmonizing and settling in their tanks. We are offering an opportunity to taste the 2023 vintage before the winter bottling. In the cellar we'll sample from the tank (both Reds and Chardonnays). We'll also pour samples of corresponding bottled vintages to suggest how the 2023 wines might evolve.
